George Woodward Co. properties are located in the Chestnut Hill and West Mt. Airy neighborhoods of northwest Philadelphia. Our company is committed to continuing the 100 year old family tradition of providing quality homes and service to our rental community.
Our houses are convenient to public transportation in walkable Urban Village communities with an appreciation for parks and open outdoor spaces. Local attractions include an art museum and galleries, live-performance theaters, wooded trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding, boutique shopping, trendy restaurants, and brew-pubs.
Most of our properties, built between 1906-1926, were designed by three renown Philadelphia architects, McGoodwin, Gilchrist and During who worked closely with Dr. George Woodward for many years. The stone and stucco homes typically have slate roofs and are situated on beautiful tree-lined and cobble-stoned streets.
Our houses range considerably in size and layout with innovative “attached” housing – twins, courtyard homes or quads, while others are single homes of varying sizes. Nearly all houses have a working fireplace, hardwood floors, two or more bathrooms and updated amenities. Many houses have a sunroom and outdoor patio area. The second-floor layouts of our 3 – 8 bedroom houses often feature connecting suites of rooms. Square footage ranges from 1,200 – 5,000+. Our apartments vary in size from large historic units to modern and contemporary styles.
Rental rates for houses start at $2,500 and continue to $8,000 per month (excluding utilities) with most falling in the $3,000 – $4,000 range. Some properties include garage and off-street parking however parking is most often on-street. Off-site garages and parking spaces are available for rent.
